Cora and Bobby Lamar’s family has owned and operated Oak Hill Farm for many years. In 1998 they moved from the Manchaca area and relocated to Poteet, the strawberry capital of Texas, where they farm 150 acres year round. Cora and Bobby’s farming methods are as natural and pesticide-free as possible. Since Kerbey Lane Cafe is committed to serving Austin healthy meals with the best possible ingredients, our partnership with Lamar Farms allows us to do just that.
Throughout the different growing seasons squash, strawberries, blackberries, tomatoes, broccoli, eggplant, onions and more are picked fresh for the short drive to your favorite Kerbey Lane Cafe location.
Back in the early 90’s we were not pleased with the tasteless, colorless tomatoes that were available at the time. When Cora Lamar drove up to our back door with delicious vine-ripened tomatoes our relationship began. Every year from late May until November, thousands of plants produce literally tons of great tasting tomatoes. Even during the off-season Cora will find vine ripened tomatoes for us so your salad or sandwich will still have that home grown flavor you have come to expect.
The relationships we have with the local growers and ranchers who help supply our restaurants are very important to us. What they produce isn’t just better for you; it actually tastes better. Try fresh local ingredients in our omelets, vegetarian dishes, and salads, or in our seasonal menus and our daily blackboard specials. Our goal is to serve our guests fresh, healthy, good tasting food, and every day we are thankful for all who come by and join us for a meal. Everyone here at Kerbey Lane Cafe would also like to thank Cora, Bobby, Kit, Jessica, Weston and all those involved with the farm for their hard work.
